Questions
Where the scores come from, what the ratings mean, and how to fix or add something.
The scores
Where do the scores come from?
Results from 1998 to 2025 were collected by Oklahoma Band Central (ok-bc.com), which posted Oklahoma contest results for almost 30 years. From 2026 on, we collect them from contest hosts, the Oklahoma Bandmasters Association (OBA), OSSAA and Bands of America.
Why are some contests missing or marked "partial"?
Some hosts only post results on Facebook, or not at all. When we only have part of a contest, like the winners or finals only, the page says so. If you have the full recap, please send it and we'll add it.
Why are some scores over 100?
Most contests score each band out of 100. Some add every judge's score together instead, so the total can be 200, 500 or even 1,000 points: three judges scoring out of 100 each make a contest out of 300. Those scores are marked pts, and the contest page says how that contest was scored. A 270 there isn't better than an 85 somewhere else, so band charts only use contests scored out of 100.
How fast do new scores show up?
Usually within a day or two of a contest, as soon as the host or association posts them, or someone sends us the recap.
Ratings and classes
What's the difference between OBA and OSSAA contests?
OBA runs the state marching championships each fall, with numeric scores and placements by class. OSSAA runs the regional marching contests, where judges give each band a rating instead of a place.
What do the ratings I, II, III and IV mean?
They're the ratings from OSSAA regional contests:
What do the classes (1A to 6A) mean?
Classes group schools by size, from 1A (smallest) to 6A (largest). At OBA, the 6A schools are split into 6A1 and 6A2. Invitationals often use their own class names, such as AA or AAA.
Fixes and photos
I found a wrong score or a typo. How do I fix it?
Use Send a correction at the top of any contest page, or the correction form. Tell us what's wrong and, if you can, where the right number comes from (a recap sheet or the host's post).
Can I send photos of my band?
Yes, please, with the photo form. Send only photos you took, or ones the photographer said we can use. We'll credit the photographer on every photo. Photos appear on that band's page and can come up on the home page.
How do you choose the photos on the home page?
They rotate, and every visit starts on a random one, so no band is featured over another.
About the site
Is this run by OBA or OSSAA?
No. OK Marching is an independent site run by an Oklahoma band fan. It isn't connected to OBA, OSSAA or any school.
Is this the old ok-bc.com?
No. Oklahoma Band Central (ok-bc.com) kept Oklahoma marching results for almost 30 years, and when it went offline, OK Marching started so that history wouldn't be lost. If its owner ever brings it back, OK Marching will step aside. More on the About page.
How is the site paid for?
By donations. Hosting is cheap, but it isn't free. If the site helps you, the small Support the site link in the footer of every page is how to chip in. It keeps the site running and ad-free.
